Anne Stefanski, Birth Doula

Anne Stefanski - Childbirth Educator and Doula

Serving the Capital Region of New York State

What is a Doula?

A doula is a person who provides continuous emotional and physical support to a person in labor.

Doulas provide evidence-based information and education so families can ask good questions to help them advocate for the birth they choose to have.

We provide support to partners as well. Be it spouse, significant other, grandma, or sibling, we help the birthing person's support be as involved as they would like to be.

It’s a team effort!

What are the benefits of hiring a doula?

Families who hire a doula are:

  • less likely to need Pitocin
  • less likely to need pain medication
  • less likely to have a cesarean section
  • more pleased with their birth experience than women who do not have continuous labor support

Why Take an Independent Childbirth Class?

In our classes, you will receive evidence-based information which will prepare you to have the kind of empowered birth experience you were meant to have, without the bias that can sometimes come from hospital-based classes.

We teach childbirth the way it was intended to be taught, not to adhere to certain policies and procedures which are often not based on scientific study.

About Anne

I am a mother of one who lives just outside Albany, NY with her husband, son, two dogs, and one cat.

I became a doula and childbirth educator because I believe in supporting physiologic birth and helping families to trust their bodies and their instincts. My childbirth education training is through Lamaze International.

It is my firm belief that all those who are giving birth should be able to make empowered, well-educated decisions for their birth, their body, and their baby.

I'm thrilled to be teaching evidence-based childbirth education in Albany and it's surrounding towns and cities!

Areas Served

I attend births at any hospital, birth center or home in Albany, Schenectady, Saratoga, Schoharie, or Rensselaer counties.

Don’t live in these counties but would still like to talk about birth support? Send me a message! I’m easily persuaded to travel further! Mileage fees apply.

I will attend a home birth if a midwife is present.

My classes will travel anywhere!
