Your Most Common Questions:

Why Take an Independent Lamaze Class?

Lamaze Class. Childbirth education class, Albany New York.

In Lamaze childbirth education classes, you will receive evidence-based information which will prepare you to have the kind of birth experience you want to have.

A private Lamaze class means the class will be focused on your needs for labor, birth, and early postpartum. You are unique and your class should be as well.

What is a Postpartum Doula?

Postpartum doula, Albany, NY.

A postpartum doula is someone who is trained to support parents after a baby is welcomed into their home. This can be through birth or adoption.

Postpartum doulas do:

  • light housework
  • newborn care
  • overnight care
  • breastfeeding support
  • babywearing support/education
  • provide a supportive outlet for exhausted new parents

Parents provide the care for the baby. We provide the care for the parents.

Do I Really Need a Birth Plan?

Pregnant woman writing. Birth plan. Pregnant. Childbirth.

A birth plan is a useful tool no matter how many times you have given birth.

The act of writing a birth plan helps you understand some of the things that come up during birth ahead of time, rather than learning about them for the first time when you are in labor.

The things you learn in a Lamaze class and breastfeeding class can help prepare you for the decisions to be made in your birth plan.

Why Do I Need to Take a Breastfeeding Class?

Breastfeeding has countless benefits for both parent and baby:

  • Decreased likelihood of baby developing several medical conditions.
  • Decreases mom's chance of developing breast cancer.
  • Increases the parent/child bond.
  • Less time cleaning bottles.
  • Breastfead babies' poop doesn't smell!

However, early breastfeeding can offer some challenges, and having a solid knowledgebase, by taking a breastfeeding class as well as a postpartum doula you can reach out to for help, can make a huge difference!
