A doula is a person who provides continuous emotional and physical support to a woman in labor.
Doulas can provide evidence-based information and education so families can ask good questions to help them advocate for the birth they choose to have.
We provide support to partners as well. Be it spouse, significant other, grandma, or sibling, we help the birthing person's support be as involved as they would like to be.
It’s a team effort!
Families who hire a doula are:
In our classes, you will receive evidence-based information which will prepare you to have the kind of empowered birth experience you were meant to have, without the bias that can sometimes come from hospital-based classes.
We teach childbirth the way it was intended to be taught, not to adhere to certain policies and procedures which are often not based on scientific study.

I am a doula in Albany, NY. I am a mother of one who lives just outside Albany, NY with her husband, son, two dogs, and one cat. I underwent training as a birth doula in October 2017.
I became a doula because I want to be the support I wished I had had when I had my son in April 2017.
It is my firm belief that all those who are giving birth should be able to make empowered, well-educated decisions for their birth, their body, and their baby. The best way to do this is to gain a thorough knowledge of the physiology of childbirth. I'm thrilled to be teaching evidence-based childbirth education in Albany!
I attend births at any hospital, birth center or home within 30 miles of Altamont, NY.
I will attend a home birth if a midwife is present.
